Chan Chich is a magnificent location for nature photography, as illustrated on this site. Due to its long history of conservation practices, the wildlife in the Chan Chich/Gallon Jug area have become familiar with human presence, which makes for exceptional photo opportunities.

A selection of photographs displayed on this site (those designated ©DG/JB) are from the book Jungle of the Maya, by Jim Wright and photographers Doug Goodell and Jerry Barrack, which has been published by the University of Texas Press in October 2006. Chan Chich, because of its diverse and accessible wildlife and habitats, was one of the central focal points in the development of this book.
