Birders Invited to Explore the Jungle Trails, Look for Endangered Species.

25% off all Cabanas!

Chan Chich Lodge is once more teaming up with a selection of Belize’s top birders and guests on January 1st, 2018 to conduct the annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC).  This is the 29th year we are organizing this count since it started back in 1990.  Belize Audubon Society coordinates this effort at three other sites across critical habitats in Belize.  We do our share in this part of the Selva Maya, which connects with Mexico and Guatemala and provides wintering habitat for several endangered species.

Last year we documented 173 species in less than 24 hours.  Can we top that this year?  Come join us as we explore the jungle trails for Pheasant Cuckoo, scan the escarpment for Lovely Cotinga and Ornate Hawk-Eagles, and edge Laguna Verde for Pinnated Bittern and a complete set of Yucatan endemics such as Yucatan Flycatcher, Ocellated Turkey and Rose-throated Tanager.
