Guided Wildlife Drives at Chan Chich

For the comfort, safety, and conservation of our protected reserve, guests are welcome to arrive at the lodge by personal vehicle; however, driving within the Gallon Jug and Chan Chich property is not permitted in private cars. All on-property excursions are conducted as shared guided tours, allowing guests to explore responsibly while benefiting from expert interpretation. Should you prefer a private tour experience, our team will be happy to assist with arrangements in advance, subject to availability and an additional fee.

Guided Safari-Style Drives
Led by expert guides, our safari-style wildlife drives wind through the reserve's rainforest roads and trails, where every bend offers a chance for a sighting. Beautiful birds, white-tailed deer, peccaries, and coatimundis are regular companions, and each drive carries the possibility of something rarer, from a tapir to an elusive wild cat.

Laguna Verde
A three-hour experience that is designed for slowing down, relaxing, and enjoying one of the most beautiful sunsets on the property. Laguna Verde is a natural spring-fed lake north of the Lodge. You can enjoy a canoe ride on the lagoon, or just sit back and enjoy the sunset with cocktails and tapas in hand.

Laguna Seca
Laguna Seca is about discovery, birding, and immersing yourself in one of Belize's richest wildlife habitats. The experience begins with a guided drive through the reserve. Upon reaching Laguna Seca, you'll continue on foot, exploring the surrounding trails. An optional boat add-on component is available on request.

Farm Tour

Located on the Gallon Jug Estate, our working farm is where much of the fresh, organic produce on your plate begins its journey. It’s a hands-on experience that connects you to the land, the people, and the flavors of Belize.

Night Drives
As the sun sets over the Belize jungle, a whole new world awakens. Aboard our open-air safari-style trucks, you’ll venture into the rainforest under a canopy of stars, guided by expert naturalists. Keep your eyes peeled for elusive nocturnal wildlife like jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, owls, and kinkajous, all active under the cover of darkness.

The Escarpment
Sitting over 900 feet above sea level, the upper escarpment is one of the highest points on the property and worth it for the breath-taking vista alone. The high elevation and broad field of view allow bird watchers glimpses of various raptors and vultures that soar the areas thermals. Black-and-White Hawk-Eagles and White Hawks are common to the area.
